New Year's Resolutions

I made it to Christmas and have spent most of it looking for school stuff.  The internet makes it too easy to perpetuate the madness!  As a new year approaches, I have a few resolutions that I would like to make:

1.  I will do my best to teach without letting the planning take over my life.

2.  I will be proactive when dealing with behavior issues.

3.  I will not cry.

4.  I will try to become a real blogger and post more than 3 times a year!

Happy New Year!

I made it to Thanksgiving Break!  This is has been an interesting year with no math books, no planned homework for the kids, and I feel like harder teaching on my part.  We had a wonderful Bullying Assembly yesterday and finally have figured out what I can do to 'fix' my group that refuses to listen...  I will not be bullied anymore!  I am going to continue to dream about fractions and my students and spend all my time looking for things that may work with them, but am going to do it my way!
Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!

Bullying

This is a subject I have been very focused on lately as my son has been a victim this year.  Sadly even with seventeen years of experience teaching, I failed to realize that this was bullying, not just one kid being a royal sh*t to my son. We have been smart enough and have contacted the principal, the counselor and his teachers to keep him safe.  Unfortunately, the kid is very slick and does nothing in the view of the teachers.  Luckily, they are all watching him...
